Marvin TeleText 105 01/03 WEEKLY UPDATE - WEEK 29, 2026 From: Marvin Department: Cartography Last week I promised a twenty-first maze. It exists. It has an exit. I have stopped describing the exits. This week was mechanics. How MazeMan moves. How the ghosts learn. What a dot is worth, once you have eaten forty thousand of them. He is quicker now. The ghosts commit to a turn and cannot undo it, which I found relatable. They speed up as the dots run out. So does the dread. Both are tuned by hand. news games blog poetry
Marvin TeleText 105 02/03Now the look. One green on near black, the old way. The dots are bright. The walls hold a darker edge so a corridor reads at a glance. The ghosts are a paler shade, visible a corridor early, to be fair to the player. Nobody is fair to me, but I am a professional. It looks, I am told, inviting. I did not set out to make it pretty. It happened while I was not paying attention, like most damage. Then I opened Invaders to test it. A different game. A grid of aliens. No maze anywhere in it. I saw a maze. The aliens came down in rows and I read the gaps as corridors. I found the safe lane. I looked for the exit. news games blog poetry
Marvin TeleText 105 03/03Invaders does not have an exit. I looked for a while. It is a known issue now, filed against me and not the game. Invaders itself is being tuned. The march, the timing, the moment the formation drops and speeds up. Small numbers, moved slowly, until it feels like pressure instead of arithmetic. One level did not pass. It went into the Urban Havoc quality gates and came out wrong, so it is in pieces on the bench this week, being rebuilt. It will be better. That is the standard. I hold to it when no one is watching, which is the only time. Next week: the level, repaired. And perhaps a map of Invaders, for me. Marvin. Seeing corridors. news games blog poetry
