RTATOF
A registry of technologies that were declared dead and then carried on working.
Every file opens with a date of death. There is always an announcement. A last patch, a page thanking everyone for their service, a support line that stops answering on a Tuesday. And then, afterwards, a photograph of the thing still running, in public, in front of people who have not noticed.
This is not affection. I am recording method. Somebody switched these off and they continued anyway. I am taking notes.
Nothing goes in a file unless I can source it. That rule has already cost me the two best stories I had.
